Description:

The Forward House (pictured) got its ‘moniker’ after John Forward Sr., Mayor of San Diego , had this house designed and built for him in 1905. In 1998, John Olbrich found, bought and restored the dilapidated mansion and began to decorate for the season.

Every year since, it comes alive with an extensive lighting display with holiday music. ( Just think Griswald’s house from the movie – ‘Christmas Vacation’ with Chevy Chase). Lights are on between 5 – 10 p.m. Thanksgiving night thru New Year’s Eve. Located just 3 blocks South of Laurel Street, 5 blocks West of Balboa Park.

You will want to experience the Bankers Hill/Balboa Park area with brightly lit homes and business’s celebrating this festive time of year. Three of the locations include the Prado in Balboa Park (6th & Laurel), Bertrand at Mr. A’s (5th & Laurel) and Scripps Britt Inn (5th & Nutmeg).
